Azam was born in Tehran, but when she was four, she moved to the town of Panchgani, India. She is therefore strongly influenced by the Indian culture. Her mother fled with her in 1985, during the Iranian revolution. They

traveled to California, where Azam still lives. Azam

has collaborated with many diverse artist and film composers. They include: Serj Tankian (of System Of A Down), The Crystal Method, Juno Reactor, Buckethead, film composers Tyler Bates and Jeff Rona, Kodo and Mickey Hart.
